PURPOSE OF EVENT:
The main objective of the activity was to celebrate 8th May International Thalassaemia Day in Multan Region and aware the people about the Thalassaemia Disease and its prevention and more achievements of Punjab Thalassaemia and Other Genetic Disorders Prevention and Research Institute.
PROCEEDINGS:
Thalassaemia Awareness events were conducted in 2 Districts of Multan region (Multan and Khanewal) started with the recitation of Holy Quran and Naat ,Mariam khan (GC Multan) delivered welcome speech and thanked to all guests to participate in Seminar. She also highlighted the Progress of PTGD Multan region. Prof. Dr. Asghar Javaid (HOD Pathology dept.) delivered lecture on “Laboratory Diagnosis of Thalassaemia”. Dr. Rana Zulfiqar Ali emphasized that every single person should have Thalassaemia carrier screening test before marriage. Dr. Kamran Ishfaq delivered Motivational Speech about Thalassaemia affected families. He explained how Thalassaemia affected child/family goes through difficult circumstances. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani (VC NMU) appreciated the services of PTGD and its Regional Center Multan which are being offered free of cost to general population and community. She also emphasized on pre-marital screening and suggested the students for getting their Thalassaemia Tests from PTGD.
