PTGD Hosts Seminar for National Thalassaemia Prevention Day
Punjab Thalasseamia and Other Genetic Disorders Prevention and Research Institute (PTGD) Lahore was honored to host a significant Awareness Seminar on National Thalassaemia Prevention Day on Tuesday, 12th November 2024.
The event, held at the FJMU university auditorium, brought together healthcare professionals, students, and special guests to reinforce the national commitment to preventing Thalassaemia.Welcome address given by Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor, FJMU. The seminar featured a powerful and moving tableau performance by children with Thalassaemia, highlighting the human aspect of this genetic condition.
The agenda was packed with insightful sessions, including a detailed overview of Punjab Thalassaemia Prevention Programme (PTGD) services by Prof. Dr. Shabnam Bashir. The chief guest, Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafique, Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, graced the occasion with his address, underscoring the government's dedication to this critical health initiative.
The ceremony also included a shields and certificate distribution to honor contributors to the cause, concluding with a vote of thanks from Dr. Yasmeen Ehsan, Director General of PTGD.
