Thalassemia Awareness Seminar, Walk, and Screening Camp at Govt. Graduate Degree College for Women Sargodha in Observance of National Thalassemia Day (8th Nov-2024).

Mr. Muneeb Rahmat, Regional Coordinator of PTGD Regional Center Sargodha, hosted a Thalassemia Awareness Event at Government Graduate Degree College for Women Chandani Chowk, Sargodha, in honor of National Thalassemia Day. The event saw the participation of over 500 students, along with faculty and staff members.

RC PTGD Regional Center Sargodha, in collaboration with Madam Iram Zahra (Asst. Professor, GGDCW), organized a notable event comprising a Thalassemia Awareness Seminar, Walk, and Screening Camp at Govt. Graduate Degree College for Women (GGDCW) Sargodha  to mark National Thalassemia Day (8th Nov).

Dr. Mushtaq Bashir, Medical Superintendent of DHQ/Dr. Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital Sargodha, honored the event as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Safana, Principal of Government Graduate Degree College for Women, served as the Guest of Honor. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khawaja Arshad, Consultant Pediatric, and Mr. Muneeb Rahmat, Regional Head of PTGD Sargodha Region, participated as Guest Speakers, adding immense value and significance to the occasion. 


Following the seminar, Dr. Mushtaq Bashir, Prof. Dr. Safana, Dr. Khawaja Arshad, and Mr. Muneeb Rahmat inaugurated the Thalassemia Screening Camp, where approximately 60 students were tested for thalassemia. Afterward, an awareness walk began from the Auditorium and concluded at the Principal’s Office, with participation from the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, Guest Speakers, faculty, staff, and students. The entire event was covered by both electronic and print media.

The students conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the College Admin and Mr. Muneeb Rahmat for organizing the impactful thalassemia awareness event for them. They pledged to actively promote the message, "Get the Thalassemia Test Done Before Marriage for a Thalassemia-Free Pakistan," among their friends, peers, and broader communities.
