PURPOSE OF EVENT:
The main objective of the activity was to celebrate 8th May International Thalassaemia Day in Multan Region and aware the people about the Thalassaemia Disease and its prevention and more achievements of Punjab Thalassaemia and Other Genetic Disorders Prevention and Research Institute.
PROCEEDINGS:
Thalassaemia Awareness event started with the recitation of Holy Quran, Dr. Rana Zulfiqar Ali emphasized that every single person should have Thalassaemia carrier screening test before marriage. Dr. M. Ramzan (VC Emerson University Multan) appreciated the progress of PTGD Multan. Dr. Kamran Ishfaq delivered Motivational Speech about Thalassaemia affected families. He explained how Thalassaemia affected child/family goes through difficult circumstances. Ahmad Nadeem Khalid Incharge PTGD Regional office Multan explained about Thalassaemia and how it can be prevented. He paid thanks to all guests and Management of Emerson University Multan.
Thalassaemia Screening camp was arranged and 76 persons were screened.
ACTION REQUIRED:
Multan Region will make sure Thalassaemia screening in every district of Multan to eradicate this disease. PTGD Multan Region will also conduct Awareness sessions on monthly basis to spread awareness about this genetic Disorder.
